Fair Cares Wellness Drive

Many members of our community are experiencing a challenging season, including unemployment and food insecurity. Churches, community organizations, and local government are partnering for the Fair Cares Wellness Drive to serve our community by providing relief and resources. Come to Fair Cares on Saturday, September 19, from 11 am to 5 pm at Expo New Mexico (the fairgrounds) to receive free groceries, a flu shot, and the opportunity to donate blood. (Enter through gate 3. Exit through gate 6.) This event follows all current social distancing and public health guidelines.

Directions:
Enter through gate 3. Exit through gate 6. The map below provides more direction for those unfamiliar with the Fairgrounds. Parking attendants will be directing traffic.

Food Drive:
One box of food per car while supplies lasts.

Flu Shots:
Bring your health insurance card. Insurance cards are not required, but it is helpful. No one will be denied a flu shot.

Vitalant Blood Drive:

Appointments are recommended but not required. To set an appointment, visit their website HERE or call 505-246-1457.

If you are only going to the blood drive, please let the gate attendant know and they will direct you to the appropriate parking lot nearest the venue where the blood drive will be held.

If a blood drive donor would like to receive a food box and/or a flu shot, they will be given a pass to show the parking attendant and the parking attendant will usher them into the line for the food and flu shots. The donor will not need to go to the end of the line.

Census:
The deadline for New Mexicans to fill out the 2020 Census is September 30, 2020. Volunteers will be present at the event to assist residents who have not filled out their census information. The census is one of the best ways to ensure New Mexico communities are treated fairly in the distribution of public goods and services, and ensure they are equally represented. An accurate count of New Mexico's citizens is critical in determining the distribution of federal dollars for schools, health care, housing, roads and more.
