In keeping with the Arts Education Is Essential for students, parents, school administrators, community leaders, arts and classroom teacher leaders, the New Mexico State Fair is collaborating with the New Mexico Public Education Department to exhibit student learning through the Arts for all New Mexico students. Arts in Education provides a focus on advancing inclusion and equity, enriching communities through arts and cultural curriculum, alignment to Social Emotional skills, and growing the creative economy and empowering a creative generation. In addition to providing students with a creative outlet, arts are enrichment that facilitate social and academic growth. Increasing scientific evidence supports that art fosters brain function and development in cultivating neural systems which generate a wide range of benefits in fine motor skills, creativity and enhanced emotional balance. The NMPED is ecstatic to be partnering with the New State Fair as we showcase the artistic talent of students from across the state!
Counties, LEAs, and teachers are invited to upload images of their student’s art, using the bulleted guide below. The submission window for this month will be from April 8th- April 30th. Beginning in May, a collaborative group will select outstanding student artwork from various counties across the state to be displayed prominently on the large digital display boards at EXPO New Mexico (Lomas and San Pedro and Lomas and Louisiana) for a designated period of time. In addition, a section for display of still photographs of band, dance, movement, media arts and theatre student works will be available on New Mexico State Fair’s virtual Site. This submission process will take place the last two weeks of each month. LEAs are encouraged to submit student artwork monthly as we want to showcase as many NM student artists as possible!
