School Days

For many of New Mexico’s children, the School Days Program offers them their only opportunity to attend the State Fair; where they can experience a taste of New Mexico and all its culture in a safe and nurturing environment. From an educational standpoint, the State Fair is a unique creature that offers a veritable plethora of learning opportunities for New Mexico students of all ages and levels. Indeed, the State Fair is New Mexico’s Largest Classroom, featuring New Mexico history, science and technology, arts and culture, livestock and agriculture. Add to that the nearly endless array of street concerts, magicians, jugglers, face painters, demonstrators and other performers and you’ve got more than enough learning and fun to map out a well-rounded day for your entire class.

School Days Activities

Scavenger Hunt:
Work as a team and find answers in various buildings around the fairgrounds. This scavenger hunt is great for students of all ages.

Read to Me Corner:
Take some quiet time and have your students read to by local community volunteers. This is a project of the Albuquerque Business Education Compact’s Read by Third Grade Committee.
